Performance analysis of the optimized equilibrium optimizer algorithm using linear population size reduction in the coherent free-space optical communication system

Sensor-less adaptive optics (SLAO) systems are extensively employed due to their ability to effectively mitigate the adverse impact of atmospheric turbulence on coherent free-space optical communication (CFSOC) systems. The control algorithm dictates the corrective capabilities of the SLAO system. For this work, we employ the optimized equilibrium optimizer algorithm using linear population size reduction (LOEO) as the control algorithm. The LOEO algorithm is an enhanced version of the equilibrium optimizer (EO) algorithm. More precisely, we enhanced the control parameters, introduced the linear population size reduction (LPSR) strategy, and modified the search framework. Theoretical study and numerical simulations demonstrate that the LOEO algorithm exhibits exceptional precision, rapid correction speed, and strong robustness. The LOEO algorithm enhances the speed of correction by approximately 50% compared to the EO algorithm, resulting in a correction speed that is 15.92 times faster than the SPGD algorithm. The experimental results demonstrate that the LOEO algorithm is capable of efficiently rectifying the distorted wavefront phase aberration. This algorithm is well-suited for SLAO systems and can enhance the communication performance of the CFSOC systems.
