Factores asociados a la intención de abandonar los estudios superiores: la motivación y la resiliencia

To explore the complexity of dropout, the joint effects of motivation and resilience on transfer and dropout intentions are analysed. Using a sample of 477 Spanish students, t-tests and logistic regression models were applied. Multivariate results indicate that intrinsic motivation and amotivation explain 44.4% of transfer intentions and intrinsic motivation, external regulation and amotivation explain 48.1% of dropout intentions. These high percentages suggest that fostering intrinsic motivation and preventing amotivation are essential to reduce dropout rates.
