Sombras y luces de la traducción pedagógica
The objective of this study is to support the use of translation in the teaching of foreign languages, with a particular emphasis on its usefulness as a valid tool in the teaching-learning process of a language. On many occasions, translation has been accused of being a method that hinders communicative competence; however, these pages argue that, as long as it is implemented appropriately, it can become a very valuable teaching tool. This article analyzes different applications of translation in the language classroom focused on vocabulary, grammar, and intercultural knowledge, among others. Likewise, it examines the challenges that teachers face when integrating translation practice into their teaching. In this line, the research highlights the benefits and pedagogical value of translation as an effective means of fostering both linguistic and cultural connection in the process of learning a foreign language, although it also recommends a balanced and moderate use of translation work.
