Difficulties in diagnosing post-traumatic endophthalmitis combined with hemorrhage: a clinical case and treatment results
The article presents a clinical case of post-traumatic endophthalmitis that developed in a patient after a severe eye injury. A distinctive feature of this case is that the endophthalmitis was masked by the clinical manifestations of vitreous hemorrhage, significantly complicating both diagnosis and treatment. Special attention is given to the need for microbiological examination of vitreous body samples to identify flora and determine antibiotic sensitivity. This allows for more accurate pathogen detection and selection of effective treatment. Considering the rarity and diagnostic complexity of this condition, the described clinical case is of particular interest to ophthalmologists and highlights the need for optimizing diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to post-traumatic endophthalmitis, which presents under the guise of vitreous hemorrhage. Keywords: endophthalmitis, vitreous hemorrhage, vitrectomy, microbiological examination, Staphylococcus aureus, antibacterial therapy
