Clinical cases of dacryoadenitis development after keratorefractive surgeries

Three clinical cases of unilateral dacryoadenitis in the early stages after keratorefractive surgeries are presented. It should be noted that all patients had a respiratory viral infection in the early postoperative period or shortly before the surgery. In addition, all patients had such an anatomical feature as a deep orbit. The difficulty of diagnosis was that none of the patients had localized pain in the projection of the lacrimal gland. Patients complained of lacrimation, discomfort, non-localized pain in the eye area. The diagnosis was made on the basis of computed tomography of the orbit. Treatment consisted of local anti-inflammatory therapy; two patients also required single and double injections of prolonged corticosteroids into the lacrimal gland. In all patients, the manifestations of dacryoadenitis were completely stopped and did not affect the refractive and functional result of the refractive surgery. Keywords: dacryoadenitis, keratorefractive surgeries, anti-inflammatory therapy
