Analysis of the incidence of ophthalmological pathologies among the population living in the influence zone of the nuclear industry

The study of ophthalmopathology incidence among the population of the closed administrative-territorial entity (ZATO) Seversk from 2012 to 2023 revealed a significant decrease in the incidence of eye and adnexa diseases. Among men, the incidence decreased by 143.6%, while among women, it decreased by 171.5%. The main factors contributing to this decrease were improvements in the quality of diagnostics and treatment, the implementation of preventive measures, and an increase in the medical literacy of the population. The most common diseases were muscle disorders of the eye, disorders of binocular movement, accommodation, and refraction, as well as lens and conjunctiva diseases. The results of the study highlight the importance of continuing scientific research and developing health protection strategies to improve the quality of life for the population of monotowns and ensure the sustainable development of industrial regions. Keywords: ionizing radiation, long-term technogenic external exposure, morbidity
