Bilateral uveitis caused by taking a protein kinase inhibitor in the treatment of cutaneous melanoma (clinical observation)
A clinical case of bilateral uveitis with macular edema in a 48-year-old female patient associated with long-term use of vemurafenib (an antitumor drug — BRAF kinase inhibitor) is presented. In 2010, the patient underwent surgical excision of melanoma of the shin skin followed by lymph node dissection of metastases in the femoral-inguinal-iliac localization. From 2018 to 2021, she took vemurafenib prescribed by oncologists at a dose of 960 mg 2 times a day. Bilateral uveitis with macular edema developed against the background of its using. Clinical signs of uveitis and macular edema were relieved by the use of corticosteroids, but a tendency to recurrence remained. Long-term remission was achieved only after complete discontinuation of vemurafenib. The data of dynamic OCT examination of the retina are presented during the use of an antitumor drug and after its discontinuation. Keywords: uveitis, macular edema, vemurafenib
