Accelerating Blockchain Adoption: How Blockchain Technology Providers Revolutionize Supply Chain Management
Blockchain technology has been regarded as a transformative force in the field of supply chain operations by enabling decentralization, enhanced transparency, and improved security. Despite the increasing adoption of blockchain technology, the unique contributions of technology providers in blockchain-based supply chains have been insufficiently examined. In light of the network theory, this paper delves into the complex dynamics of supply chain networks, by characterizing the often-overlooked roles of blockchain technology providers (BTPs) in the adoption process within sustainable supply chains. It follows a mono-method qualitative research approach including case studies and indepth interviews conducted in Brazil and Morocco. Major findings emphasize that proactive engagement, operational and collaborative effectiveness and strategic continuous support of BTPs to the supply chain stakeholders are crucial factors for the successful adoption of blockchain technology. This research contributes to the extant literature by providing a comprehensive understanding of how BTPs shape the landscape of blockchain adoption. Also, by bridging the network theory with practical applications, this study offers valuable insights for industry practitioners on the active operational contribution of BTPs to sustainable supply chains.
