Perception of the Use of Recycled Construction Waste in the UAE's Construction Industry

The UAE's construction industry faces significant challenges due to increasing volumes of construction and demolition waste (CDW). This study examines factors affecting stakeholders' perceptions of using recycled CDW materials, with an emphasis on Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) to validate key perception dimensions. Six critical dimensions were evaluated: Awareness and Knowledge, Benefits, Barriers, External Influences, Organizational Resources and Support, and Effectiveness. The analysis reveals that barriers related to quality, aesthetic, and regulatory concerns hinder positive perceptions, while external influences and benefits significantly support CDW acceptance. Insights suggest that policy interventions, improved material standards, and investment in recycling infrastructure are pivotal to advancing sustainable construction in the UAE.
