Internet of Things (IoT) in Smart Grid Technology and its Applications

The Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as an industry-revolutionizing technology that has the potential to impact a wide range of businesses, including the energy sector. Integration of IoT into Smart Grid technology is among the most impactful and potential applications of IoT in the energy sector. The Smart Grid is a cutting-edge system for supplying power that makes use of real-time data, automation, and intelligent equipment to maximize energy production, distribution, and consumption. This paper mainly concentrates on the numerous ways in which the Internet of Things can be used in contemporary energy management systems, focusing on the important role it plays in boosting the functionality of Smart Grids. Communication between power generating sources, transmission networks, distribution systems, and end users is made possible through the integration of IoT-enabled devices and sensors in Smart Grid infrastructure. IoT aids in addressing the drawbacks of conventional power grids, such as wasteful energy utilization, a lack of adaptability, and a sensitivity to interruptions, by enabling real-time data interchange and decision-making.
