Convenient and effective self-similar amplification with dispersion management of linear NPE femtosecond fiber laser
A convenient and effective simpler self-similarity amplification system based on a linear nonlinear polarization evolution (NPE) femtosecond fiber laser with dispersion management is introduced. The fully polarization-maintaining NPE fiber laser oscillator outputs pulses with a duration of 585 fs, which is perfect for going straight into the self-similar amplification without additional preshaping devices. Using a ~ 3 m Yb-doped fiber as an amplifier, we compare the differences in the self-similarity evolution between the forward and backward pumping pairs. After passing through the self-similarity amplifier, a parabola-like pulse was obtained with the spectral width up to 38.7 nm, which was compressed to 104 fs. This optimized approach is crucial for achieving efficient, compact, and reliable all-fiber self-similar amplifiers.
