Verification of detection advantages of microwave photonics linear-frequency-modulated continuous wave radar based on electrical link through modeling analysis

This paper presents the construction of frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar models, it compares signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and measurement accuracy of the mixing signals in both the electronic and optical domains for the input signals with different bandwidth. The research finds that the optical domain mixing scheme has an SNR of approximately 30.1 dB lower than the electronic domain mixing scheme due to the noise introduced by electrooptic/ photoelectric transformations, resulting in reduced measurement accuracy. This paper verifies the effectiveness and limitations of microwave photonics technology in improving the SNR and measurement accuracy of radar systems through simulation modeling and comparative analysis, providing a reference for further optimization and application of microwave photonics radar technology.
