An eight-channel wavelength optical add/drop multiplexer for C-band
This article proposes a silicon-based optical add-drop multiplexer for wavelength division multiplexing systems has been proposed. The device comprises two 1×8 arrayed waveguide gratings, eight Mach-Zehnder interferometers, and crossing waveguides. The fabricated arrayed waveguide gratings have a compact size of 600×427μm2, with an average channel spacing of 3.2nm. The optical insertion loss is approximately 8.1dB to 14dB, and the channel crosstalk ranges from -15.6dB to -20dB. This device, with its compact and simple structure, supports eight-channel add-drop multiplexing and is suitable for dense wavelength division multiplexing/demultiplexing applications. It holds significant application value in the field of large-scale integrated optical communications.
