Research and Application of Fault Traveling Wave Positioning Technology for Multi-Branch Transmission Lines

In view of the many defects of the existing fault positioning method of multi-branch transmission lines and the good application prospect of traveling wave method, a precise calibration method accurate calibration of traveling wave head based on EMD-SDEO and T domain positioning method based on complete monitoring are proposed. Firstly, the fault traveling wave is decomposed by the EMD algorithm to obtain the modal function IMFn. Secondly, according to the envelope entropy of each mode function, determine the intrinsic mode function that is most suitable to determine the time of the fault traveling wave, and use the SDEO operator to calculate the energy spectrum of this mode function to calibrate the time of the fault traveling wave. Thirdly the main station uses each wave head time to conduct preliminary fault T domain screening, fault section determination and fault T domain ranging. Finally the feasibility of the positioning method of multi-branch transmission lines is verified through the PSCAD / EMTDC simulation analysis.
