Rhabdomyolysis associated with sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim treatment in a dog
Abstract A 6‐year‐old, spayed, female, crossbreed dog was presented for pigmenturia and lethargy while receiving sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim for an osteosynthesis‐associated infection. A diagnosis of rhabdomyolysis was made. The antibiotic treatment was discontinued and clinical signs rapidly resolved. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of rhabdomyolysis following an antibiotic treatment in a dog.
