Design and Construction of an Electric Wheelchair with Analog Joystick

Abstract A wheelchair is a tool that can be used as a tool for people who have limited mobility, one of which is the older people. A wheelchair is a tool that can be used as a tool for people who have limited mobility, one of which is the older people. Electric wheelchairs with joystick controllers were developed to make things easier for the older people, where electric wheelchairs that use joystick controllers are more profitable than manual wheelchairs. Electric wheelchairs with joystick controls allow seniors to easily operate the wheelchair using their hands or fingers. The use of joystick controllers on electric wheelchairs allows seniors to control the direction and speed of movement of the wheelchair with simple and intuitive movements. However, despite all the advantages of an electric wheelchair with a joystick controller, you must pay attention to the ergonomics and placement of each component used so that it remains stable for the older people. Apart from that, there is a geofencing feature used on this electric wheelchair. This feature can increase the safety of electric wheelchair users because it can provide notification to family or responsible parties so that the location of the electric wheelchair can be detected. From the field test results, it was found that the maximum speed obtained after covering a distance was 8 km/hour. Non-stop travel time using a wheelchair is 8–12 hours if used on a flat road.
