Heater Scraper Tool
What Bergkamp Inc. offered to us was a project that incorporated many different facets of the design and manufacturing processes. The requirement was to design a heated scraper tool for cleaning dried asphalt from road paving equipment that included a 3-inch wide blade that could be heated to a minimum of 400F and a long handle with the proper safety equipment. Our final design included all these features by using propane to heat the blade to a temperature averaging at 512F.Additionally, this design is easily manufactured, with the entire tool weighing less than 5 pounds, and cost effective with the steel material cost only being $11.54 for the tool itself.
