Evolution of Gender Inclusive Care: What Physician Leaders Can Learn from Our Experience
Physician leaders play a critical role in ensuring patient-centered, inclusive, equitable programs that address the diverse needs of the communities they serve. Organizations continue to struggle with how to facilitate gender-affirming care for a variety of reasons, including a lack of training, the perception of system inertia among providers, other competing factors for funding, and staffing. This article describes one institution’s ability to implement gender-affirming care and continue to evolve the program to address the needs of this population and close the equity gap in healthcare.
