An X-Ray Substance Recognition Method Applied to Explosives Detection
The detection of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) represents a significant challenge in the field of security. The implementation of conventional X-ray transmission security inspection equipment for improvised explosives in the organic explosives sector presents a challenge. In contrast, the application of the X-ray back scattering principle enables more accurate detection of organic materials. However, the X-ray back scatter signal is of low intensity, which gives rise to the issue of how the parameters of the X-ray back scatter detection device should be set and enhancing identification accuracy. In this paper, a material identification method based on X-ray back scattering of plastic scintillator detector is proposed, and an X-ray back scattering detector device is constructed to collect data of simulated organic explosives, detonation devices, and metal shells. Ultimately, the distinction between the three types of substances was successfully achieved through preliminary data processing.
