American Society of Anesthesiologists 2023 Guidance on Neurological Complications of Neuraxial Analgesia/Anesthesia in Obstetrics
( Anesthesiology . 2024; 140:1235–1239. doi:10.1097/ALN.0000000000004967) Neuraxial analgesia or anesthesia comes with inherent risks, and many patients and providers fear neurological complications even with established low odds of such occurrences. Studies show that a large proportion of individuals want to be informed of risks even if odds are 1 in 10,000 or less. This article is a letter to the editor regarding the guidance surrounding complications of neuraxial analgesia/anesthesia in obstetric populations given by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).
