Randomized Trial of Very Early Medication Abortion
( N Engl J Med . 2024;391:1685–1695. doi:10.1056/NEJMoa2401646) The research examines how safe and effective medication abortion (MA) (using mifepristone and misoprostol) is at very early stages of pregnancy before confirming an intrauterine pregnancy with ultrasound. Although MA is a commonly accepted and successful option for abortion, there is not much information available about its use during gestational periods where pregnancies are not visible on ultrasound.
