Late-Preterm Corticosteroids Exposure and Neurodevelopmental Outcomes
( JAMA . 2024; 331(19):1626–1627. doi:10.1001/jama.2024.2228. Epub 2024 April.) Recent research has prompted a reevaluation of the recommended gestational age limit for administering antenatal corticosteroids. Traditionally, corticosteroids were recommended up to 34 weeks of gestation to improve outcomes for preterm infants. However, studies over the past decade have investigated extending this limit to 37 weeks, potentially benefiting infants born late preterm (34- to 37 wk).
