Childbirth Experiences in Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: A Cohort Study
( Acta Obstet Gynecol Scand . 2024;103(6):1092–1100. doi:10.1111/aogs.14800) Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complicated disorder with 4 different types, impacting 5% to 20% of females based on diagnostic standards and the specific group being examined. It is linked with various other health conditions, such as metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, obesity, and cardiovascular risks, as well as psychological issues like anxiety and depression. Matters related to reproduction, like gestational diabetes, premature birth, and cesarean delivery, are frequently seen. Metformin, a drug for diabetes, is commonly utilized to enhance insulin sensitivity and has been proven to lower rates of preterm births and late miscarriages in PCOS patients, but it does not prevent gestational diabetes.
