Magnetic-Thermal-Fluid Simulation of Mining Dry-Type Transformer Under Harmonic Influence
Dry-type transformers are vital in mining applications, directly influencing the safety and stability of power systems. With the increase in non-linear loads, harmonic currents introduce additional electromagnetic and thermal stresses, exacerbating temperature rise-a key factor limiting transformer lifespan, particularly for dry-type units with limited heat dissipation. This paper investigates a mining dry-type transformer under harmonic conditions by establishing a magnetic-thermal-fluid coupled multiphysics model using COMSOL Multiphysics. Finite element analysis (FEA) provides insights into the magnetic field distribution, temperature distribution in the core and windings, and internal flow velocity. The results offer valuable guidance for temperature monitoring, hotspot detection, and structural optimization, enhancing the transformer's reliability and performance under harmonic influence in mining environments.
