Robustness of triple-cation perovskite photo-absorbers under exposure to gamma-ray radiation
Halide perovskites have now garnered significant attention for their attractive photoabsorption features, including in detectors and solar cells. Their photoabsorption robustness in high, ambient radiation particularly ionizing gamma radiation (γ-ray), is also highly relevant for certain applications in nuclear-rich environments. In this work, we provide an initial assessment of triple-cation perovskites (TCPs) with the specific formulation comprised of Cs<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0.05</inf>FA<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0.79</inf>MA<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0.16</inf>PbI<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2.45</inf>Br<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0.55</inf>, after exposure to γ-ray radiation. The TCP’s characterization includes examining photoluminescence (PL) emission of spin-cast films, while the optoelectronic measurements of the photocurrent (I<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">ph</inf>) showed the devices to be relatively robust after exposure to the ambient radiation. This preliminary study is an initial step to continue to examine the intrinsic properties TCPs under exposure to ionizing radiation for next generation detectors, and related device applications.
