Improving communication in child protection
Implementation of a provisional child protection outcome report (PCPOR) given to social workers (SW) immediately after child protection medical assessment (CPMA) in a community setting. THE PROBLEMGaps in information sharing and ineffective interagency communication are repeatedly highlighted in serious case reviews.Process and system failures are often highlighted, where processes exist but lack standardisation, leading to ineffective communication between professionals. This negatively impacts prompt decision-making and timely interventions crucial for child protection.Important information was often shared between agencies, but it was not adequately understood. As a result, its significance, particularly regarding potential risks to the child, was not fully appreciated. 1
