Denormalized Database of HUST-PTF Beamline Control System
Huazhong University of Science and Technology is developing a proton therapy facility (HUST-PTF) based on a superconducting cyclotron. To achieve the scheduling and control of various underlying devices in the beamline during beam transport, we designed a beamline control system (BCS) with distributed architecture based on OPC UA. Initially, we developed the Beam Control System (BCS) and built the control parts for underlying hardware, such as magnet power supply, degrader and beam diagnostics. However, due to the lack of beam database, we are unable to read and store data from the underlying hardware during beam commissioning, making it impossible to achieve subsequent automatic configuration for beam therapy. Therefore, we further design and develop a denormalized beam database based on the actual architecture, beam commissioning, and therapy requirements of HUST-PTF. By demoralizer, we store data in as few tables as possible, reducing join operations between tables, minimizing disk I/O operations, to accelerate data query speed. We also test the performance of beam database, verifying that the denormalized beam database could meet the actual beam commissioning and therapy requirements of HUST-PTF.
