Research of Operating Performance Differences of Motors due to Rotor Eccentricity Errors
In this paper, the impact of rotor eccentricity on the operating performance differences of a surface-mounted permanent magnet (SPM) motor with 18-slots/16-poles is investigated based on the subdomain method. It is indicated that rotor eccentricity affects the cogging torque. Within a certain range, a significant linear relationship between rotor eccentricity and cogging torque is observed. A method for determining the maximum allowable limit of rotor eccentricity deviation is provided, which helps achieve the largest possible range of rotor eccentricity under a given cogging torque enhancement ratio. The experiments verify that changes in cogging torque caused by rotor eccentricity can be effectively predicted by the improved subdomain method, providing a reliable reference for design.
