Enhancing Charge Storage Mechanism in Mixed Metal Phosphate as Anodic Electrode Material for Energy Storage Systems
State-of-the-art supercapacitors have garnered significant interest for their notable electrochemical performance; however, there is a need for electrode materials with improved charge storage capacities. In this study, we present the synthesis of metal phosphate nanomaterials using a facile sonochemical method. Initially, single metal phosphates of Manganese (Mn), Cobalt (Co), and Zinc (Zn) were synthesized. Subsequently, the incorporation of Zn was improved in the mixed metal phosphate nanomaterials. X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and Scanning electron microscopy were employed to explore the crystalline structure, elemental composition, and surface topography of as-synthesized nanomaterial. After, the electrochemical characteristics were analyzed in three electrode setup. Mixed metal phosphate (S4) sustains superior electrochemical performance (395.18 <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\text{C g}^{-1}$</tex> specific capacity at 1.0 A <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathrm{g}^{-1}$</tex>) compared to single metal phosphate. The electrochemical performance operated at a voltage window of 0.7 and 0.6 V for Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and Galvanostatic charge discharge (GCD), respectively. In GCD, the prepared material electrode <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$(\text{ZnCoMn}(\text{PO}_{4})_{2})$</tex> shows a comparatively batter discharge time that indicates its capability for industrial applications. This novel advancement in ternary metal phosphates is suggested to be promising electrode material for advanced energy storage systems.
