Research on Online Monitoring of Abnormal Optical Path in Substations
Abnormal optical path is one of the most common defects in secondary equipment of substations. The commonly used method for diagnosing optical path abnormalities is the “offline” optical power measurement method, which starts from the optical transmission equipment and sequentially unplugges the fiber optic connectors at the end of each section for measurement. The “offline” measurement method has low efficiency and there is a risk of accidentally touching or unplugging other ports, causing normal device communication interruption. In response to the shortcomings of traditional methods, this article proposes an “online” diagnostic method for substation optical path anomalies based on the principle of bending leakage. The internal optical power is reflected by measuring the leaked optical power, without damaging the integrity of the measured optical path, which improves the reliability of relay protection devices and automation systems. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method was verified through experiments.
