An Angularly Stable Bi-Layered FSS for X- and Ku-Band Applications

A frequency selective surface (FSS) having stop-band characteristics is proposed. The reported design is printed on Rogers RT5780 substrate having dimensions of 10mm×10mm for a unit cell. It attains stop-band filter within the frequency band of 7.71 to 19.73 GHz (having a fractional bandwidth of 87.6%). Moreover, the proposed bi-layered design is independent-polarization and angularly stable against variations in incidence up-to 90° and 60°, respectively. The low profile, miniaturized size, angular stability and wide-band operation make this FSS a promising candidate for numerous potential applications in X-band and Ku-band.
