Fault Analysis of Transmission Line Based on Induced Traveling Waves Between Wires

When a fault occurs in an overhead transmission line, traveling wave analysis provides key support for fault location. In the preliminary research, the focus was on improving the performance of traveling wave acquisition and waveform analysis algorithms, which cannot solve the problem of fault location in the case that traveling wave of the fault phase is absent in practical operation and maintenance. This article considers the electromagnetic induction coupling effect between the same tower conductor and proposes a calculation method based on induced traveling waves of non-fault phase to determine the location of the fault point, which solves the problem of being unable to determine the fault point location based on the fault phase traveling wave waveform when the traveling wave acquisition device of the fault phase dose not function properly. By combining actual fault cases, the accuracy and precision of the method proposed in this paper are verified.
