Vibrational Analysis of a Reinforced Concrete Structure Using Viscous Dampers
This paper focuses on the vibrational analysis of a reinforced concrete structure using viscous dampers to mitigate external excitations like wind forces. Dampers play a crucial role in dissipating energy and minimizing vibrations to maintain structural integrity. The study investigates the vibration response of a specific reinforced concrete structure through analytical and numerical techniques, emphasizing the importance of choosing the right damper for different structures subjected to wind and seismic forces. Innovative viscous damper designs, such as using Methyl Silicone Oil, are explored to enhance damping force and energy dissipation, especially under small displacements. The paper also tells the significance of determining the elastic modulus of reinforced concrete for assessing structural stiffness. By integrating viscous dampers economically, with a damping ratio of 0.05-0.15, the study aims to enhance the safety and performance of structures under wind vibration.
