O USO DE DISPOSITIVOS COM TELA COMO FERRAMENTA DISCIPLINADORA: Uma análise correlacional

The academic world recognizes the detrimental effects of electronic device use on children's learning and development across life domains. Nevertheless, children are increasingly exposed to and integrated into digital environments. Parental care and guidance can make the situation worse, depending on the parenting style and the way in which mediation between the child and the screen can be conduct. This study seeks to comprehend how parental guidance and stress could be related to time screen exposure among children under 6 years old. For the purpose, 153 parents and caregivers respond an online form contained Parental Stress Scale, Parenting Practices Inventory, Screen Habit Questionnaire, and Socioeconomic Questionnaire. Results indicate that parents with disciplinary practices exhibit higher levels of parental stress and their children spend more time on screen devices. We conclude that technology holds a structural role in parental care, suggesting its use by parents as a tool during times of stress and/or discipline behavior imposing.
