A Study on the Impact of Parenting Stress on the Quality of Life of ADHD Children’s mother: Focusing on the Mediating effect of Parental Efficacy and Resilience
Objectives This study examined the impact of parenting stress experienced by mothers of ADHD children on their quality of life and verified how resilience and parental efficacy mediate this effect. Methods To this end, data were collected from mothers of children living in the metropolitan area who were receiving treatment for ADHD symptoms between the ages of 5 and 12. Reliability analysis, frequency analysis, and correlation analysis were performed using SPSS 26.0, and the mediating effect was verified using Process Macro Model 6. Results The analysis results showed that the direct effect of parenting stress on quality of life had a significant negative effect. Among the mediating paths, the paths through resilience and parental efficacy each had a significant negative effect. However, among the mediating paths, the double mediation that sequentially mediated resilience and parental efficacy was not significant. Conclusions This study aimed to understand the psychological characteristics of mothers of ADHD children, seek appropriate psychological interventions to relieve parenting stress, and propose on-site measures to provide effective counseling to improve the quality of life of mothers of ADHD children.
