7 A DIGITAL EVALUATION STUDY ON THE IMPROVEMENT OF COGNITIVE FUNCTION AND SOCIAL PERCEPTION IN PATIENTS WITH SCHIZOPHRENIA TREATED WITH CLOZAPINE
Abstract Background Schizophrenia is a common type of mental illness in clinical practice, which has a slow onset and a long course. It often causes patients to exhibit symptoms such as behavioral disorders, emotional disorders, and perceptual disorders, seriously affecting their daily life and health status. In clinical practice, drugs such as olanzapine, risperidone, and aripiprazole are commonly used to treat acute or chronic schizophrenia, with the aim of promoting disease progression and reducing patient pain during episodes. Among them, clozapine, as a commonly used antipsychotic drug, has been proven to be effective in treating schizophrenia, but its improvement effect and specific mechanism on cognitive function still need further research. Based on this, a study was conducted to investigate the clinical efficacy of clozapine and to digitally evaluate its effectiveness in improving cognitive function in patients with psychiatric disorders. Methods 110 patients with schizophrenia admitted to the psychiatric department of a certain hospital from August 2021 to August 2022 were selected as the research subjects. The research subjects met the diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia and were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group. Both groups of patients received the same rehabilitation nursing intervention, with the study group receiving chlorpromazine treatment on this basis. The medication usage and dosage were adjusted according to the actual situation of the patients and the duration of the treatment. The intervention treatment lasts for three months, and the psychological status and social cognition of patients before and after the experiment are evaluated using tools such as the General Self Efficacy Scale, Mental Symptom Scale, and Mental Health Assessment Scale. Results In Table 1, after the intervention, the scores of the psychiatric assessment scale for both groups of subjects were better than before the intervention (P<0.05), with the experimental group being better than the control group (P<0.05), indicating a significant difference in data. After intervention, the average scores of the experimental group and the control group on the scale were 60.48 points and 82.52 points, respectively. There was a significant statistical difference (P<0.05) between the within group and between group comparisons in the experimental group, indicating that clozapine can effectively improve cognitive function in patients with schizophrenia. Discussion Cognitive impairment is one of the prominent features of schizophrenia, which not only affects the patient’s daily life and work ability, but also increases the deficiency of social function. Related studies have shown that clozapine not only effectively controls the psychiatric symptoms of schizophrenia, but also significantly improves patients’ cognitive function, especially in selective attention, operational memory, and language fluency. Clozapine can effectively improve the cognitive function of patients with schizophrenia and promote the recovery of social function to a certain extent. This discovery provides new ideas for the rehabilitation treatment of schizophrenia patients. Funding No. SKL-2023-798.
