80 ANALYSIS OF THE POSITIVE IMPACT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL INTERVENTION COMBINED WITH VIRTUAL SIMULATION TEACHING ON YOUNG PEOPLE WITH SCHIZOPHRENIA

Abstract Background Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder that affects approximately 24 million people worldwide and often impacts the mental health and cognitive behavior of patients. Youth is a high-risk period for schizophrenia, during which patients face various pressures such as academic, employment, and interpersonal relationships. The pathogenesis and rehabilitation process are complex and varied. Traditional treatment methods mainly include medication and psychological intervention. Although they can control symptoms to a certain extent, they are difficult to comprehensively improve patients’ quality of life and mental health. With the advancement of technology, virtual simulation teaching, as an emerging treatment method, has gradually attracted the attention of researchers. Therefore, the research aims to explore the positive effects of psychological intervention combined with virtual simulation teaching on young people with schizophrenia, in order to provide new ideas and methods for the rehabilitation of schizophrenia patients. Methods The study selected 80 young patients aged between 18-35 years old who met the diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia in the International Classification of Diseases as the subjects. Using the random number table method, patients were divided into an experimental group and a control group, and all subjects were aware of the experimental content and signed informed consent forms. The control group received routine psychological interventions, including explanations of mental illness knowledge, analysis of causes, and psychological counseling. On the basis of the control group, the experimental group added virtual simulation teaching methods, using virtual reality technology to simulate really social and work scenarios, create treatment scenarios, and help patients improve their social adaptation ability and cognitive function. During the experiment, the Self Rating Depression Scale and Self Rating Anxiety Scale were used to evaluate the emotions of patients with schizophrenia, and their daily living abilities were assessed after 12 weeks of intervention. Results After intervention, both groups of patients showed improvement in their social functioning, interpersonal communication, and cognitive behavior abilities (P<0.05). The project scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group, with significant differences between groups and statistical significance (P<0.05). Discussion The combination of psychological intervention and virtual simulation teaching can effectively improve the psychological state and daily living abilities of patients with schizophrenia, help patients improve their cognitive and social skills, and have significant intervention effects. There is a significant statistical difference between the intervention group and the control group that received psychological intervention alone. Virtual simulation teaching can create a vivid treatment scenario for patients, which is more helpful in helping them improve their self-awareness and behavior patterns. This safe and controllable rehabilitation environment can gradually restore their social function in simulated social and work scenarios, and has a positive effect.
