Solvated Electrons and Hydroxyl Radicals at Plasma‐Liquid Interface

ABSTRACT Hydroxyl radicals (·OH) are potent oxidizers, but their high reactivity confines them to a thin layer at the plasma‐liquid interface, complicating the understanding of their generation and transport. This study investigates the generation and distribution of ·OH and solvated electrons (e aq ) at the plasma‐electrolyte interface. For the electrolyte anode, ·OH generation is diffusion‐driven, and in the absence of ·OH scavengers, ·OH predominantly reacts with e aq at the interface. Ion bombardment in the electrolyte cathode significantly enhances ·OH generation, leading to hydrogen peroxide formation. These findings offer strategies to optimize reactive species.
