High Gain Dual Band Conformal Concentric Ring fed Dielectric Resonator Antenna for Millimeter Wave 5G Applications

A dual wide band and high Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) is proposed here to be used at millimeter wave 5G frequency band applications. The DRAs gain enhancement has been done by using conformal concentric rings over its top surface. The metallic concerning rings enhances its gain and helps in better coupling to the metallic probe connector. The DRA is fed by a coaxial probe with better impedance match of up to 70 ohm. The dual bandwidth of the DRA is generated from 23.72 GHz-24.28 GHz as the first band and 25.5 GHz-28.9 GHz as its second band with impedance bandwidth of 2 percent and 12.5 percent respectively. The DRA has generated a gain of 6.8 dBi which is further enhanced to 8 dBi after using the concentric rings over the DRA. The DRA is fed by a coaxial probe encircle with a microstrip coupled line to the probe. The DRA can be used for millimeter wave 5G applications in the frequency band from 23 GHz to 29 GHz.
