Pushing the Boundaries of Microstrip Antenna Bandwidth: A Comprehensive Exploration of Techniques and Design Strategies
This paper presents a comprehensive overview of methods for enhancing the bandwidth of microstrip antennas. These compact and readily integrated antennas frequently suffer from inherently limited bandwidths, constraining their applicability in contemporary broadband communication systems. The review investigates the fundamental factors influencing microstrip antenna bandwidth, including resonant characteristics and substrate properties. It explores a variety of bandwidth enhancement techniques, categorized as structural modifications and advanced material integration approaches. For each technique, the underlying principles, associated advantages, limitations, and suitability for specific applications are discussed. The paper concludes by outlining future research directions in microstrip antenna bandwidth enhancement, focusing on design strategies and challenges to address the evolving needs of wireless communication systems.
