Radiation Characteristics of PET-based Multiband Microstrip Antenna Developed Using Coating Technique
This paper presents the radiation characteristics of multiband microstrip antenna with configuration of its radiating element inspired by the halal logo currently used in Indonesia. The antenna utilizes a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate with the conductive elements coated by copper-based paint. The proposed antenna is characterized for its radiation performance within the frequency range of 0.5 GHz to 6.5 GHz. With an overall size of 50 mm × 40 mm × 0.1 mm, the simulated results provides multiple resonant frequencies at 0.90 GHz, 1.76 GHz, 2.50 GHz, 3.50 GHz, 4.92 GHz, and 5.82 GHz, whereas the realized prototype resonates at the frequencies of 0.82 GHz, 1.68 GHz, 2.40 GHz, 3.68 GHz, 4.74 GHz, and 5.68 GHz. Furthermore, the measured gains for those resonant frequencies are comparable to the simulated results, where the similar achievements are also shown by the radiation pattern at each resonant frequency.
