Laboratory SILAB - Higher Institute of Documentation - University of Manouba - Tunisia
This study explores the management and characteristics of university libraries in Tunisia, focusing on their capacity to enhance the quality of services provided to users. It also aims to propose measures to optimize the quality of these services. The research examines university libraries located in the Greater Tunis district and neighboring governorates, encompassing academic establishments affiliated with six universities: Zitouna University, Tunis University, Manar University, Carthage University, Manouba University, and the Virtual University of Tunis. The findings reveal that practices employed in some Tunisian university libraries significantly impact the quality of their services, fostering greater user engagement. Additionally, the study highlights an increasing awareness among many librarians of the importance of prioritizing quality in university library services. However, it also identifies key challenges, such as the absence of strategic plans and a lack of resources and facilities.
