A Study Of Socio-Economic Condition Of Housemaids With Special Reference To Mumbai

Housemaids in India, a significant part of the informal workforce, face numerous socio-economic challenges, including poor working conditions, low income, and job insecurity.Predominantly women, these workers endure long hours and low social status.Despite some organizational support and government policies, their financial and social security remains insufficient and under-addressed.This study aims to explore these concerns, investigating whether housemaids are compensated fairly for their labor and the challenges they face.It is observed that, among all categories within the informal sector, domestic workers earn the lowest wages and face numerous difficulties (Sundaram, 1966).Primary data collection method through survey and interview has been done.Simple random sampling method is followed to conduct the required survey.Chi-square test has been used to check the significant relationship between variables.
