Characterization of relay protection equipment and electromagnetic disturbance in high-voltage substations

Abstract With the increase of substation voltage level and the local installation of relay protection equipment, the electromagnetic disturbance in the working environment of relay protection equipment is more complex and intense. Firstly, this paper analyzes the characteristics of steady-state electromagnetic disturbance sources and transient electromagnetic disturbance sources in high-voltage substations. Secondly, conductive electromagnetic disturbance is generated by Multisim by building an electric fast transient pulse group generating circuit. Finally, the radiation coupling simulation model of space electromagnetic disturbance to secondary cables is established, simulated, and analyzed. The results show that grounding both ends of the cable shielding layer can reduce the impact of electromagnetic disturbance, based on which grounding both ends of the armor layer can further reduce the coupling current of the cable.
