Gig economy: Formalization and analysis of key elements using a tuple model

Subject. The article addresses the gig economy as a modern form of labor organization and the use of digital platforms. Objectives. The study aims to define the essence of the gig economy, analyze interrelations of its elements, assess the degree of its impact on the labor market. Methods. The study employs mathematical methods of research. Results. I developed a methodological approach based on the use of a tuple model. It enables to structure and formalize various aspects of the gig economy: types of employment, the role of digital platforms, social implications. The paper presents my own definition of the gig economy, defines the role of digital platforms in managing supply and demand in the labor market. Conclusions. The use of the tuple model can contribute to the development of programs to improve working conditions.
