Preface

The 23 rd edition of the International School on Condensed Matter Physics on Recent Progress in Advanced Materials and Applications was held from August 26 th till 30 th , 2024 in Saints Constantine and Helena – a resort on the Black Sea cost north of Varna, Bulgaria. This School is organized biannually by the Institute of Solid State Physics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences since 1980. The school continuous the 45 years tradition and provides an arena for experienced and early stage researchers to debate on current scientific problems and challenges on one hand and explore interdisciplinary areas from the other. The main topics of this edition concentrated on (i) Advanced materials and processing, (ii) Green technologies, (iii) Soft matter and biomaterials, (iv) Sensors and sensor technologies and (v) Clean energy. These are in line with recent research trends covering pure scientific studies on novel materials along with modern technological applications. The School consisted of two memorial lectures to honor our Patron Georgi Nadjakov and the first director of the Institute and the founder of the School Acad. M. Borissov, 18 invited lectures and 10 oral presentations, as well as 39 posters that presented recent advancements and results from studies on functional materials and novel technologies. We are indebted to all participants for their insightful contributions. Moreover, we would like to thank all authors for choosing to submit their manuscripts to the School Proceedings and the members of the International Programme Committee for their continuous commitment. List of Organising Committee is available in this pdf.
