Synthesis, Characterization, and Hydrogen Storage of Novel MWCNTs–Organic Nanohybrid

Abstract This work included the preparation of the compound 3‐(1‐(4‐(5‐(4‐(methylthio)phenyl)‐1‐phenyl‐4,5‐dihydro‐1 H ‐pyrazol‐3‐yl)phenyl)‐4,5‐dihydro‐1 H ‐tetrazol‐5‐yl)‐1 H ‐indole (MPT) via a series of reactions on the indole. The prepared compound is characterized by FTIR, 1 HNMR, CHN, and melting point. The final product (MPT) is used to prepare a new composite with multiwalled carbon nanotubes, the formation of which is proven by FTIR, SEM, EDX, and TEM, and which appeared in the form of nanotubes covered with nanomaterials in irregular shapes, which is the organic compound. The final nanohybrid (MPT@MWCNTs) is used to test its ability to store hydrogen, which proved that the prepared compound can store hydrogen at a weight percentage of 5 wt.% at a pressure of 100 bar.
