Research on fault localization method of overhead line based on improved double-ended traveling wave method

As high-voltage overhead lines become increasingly prevalent, ensuring the safety and stability of the power system is essential. In the event of a fault, quickly and accurately locating the issue is critical to maintaining system stability and safety. Traditional double-ended traveling wave methods face challenges in fault location accuracy due to wave velocity uncertainties and unsynchronized clocks. This paper introduces an improved fault location method for overhead lines, building on the conventional double-ended traveling wave approach. The method employs frequency sensors at both ends of the transmission line for real-time monitoring and signal transmission. Wavelet transforms are then used in MATLAB to detect singularities and perform maximum analysis, resulting in high-precision data.
