VSK - A Tripartite Development Model based on the V-Model, the Scrum, and the Kanban Methodologies
Hybrid software development models are increasingly being used in various industries to provide the benefits of agile methodologies in software development while maintaining traditional model frameworks that the rest of the organization may still be utilizing. This paper presents a new tripartite software model (VSK) that has integrated agile methodologies, the Scrum and the Kanban methodologies, along with the traditional methodology the V-model. Since the V-model is commonly used in the automotive space for systems engineering activities, this was selected as the traditional framework for this new tripartite model. The bottom of the V will contain two separate Agile development methodologies that will run in parallel. A scrum methodology will be utilized for new feature development and release planning activities. In parallel to the scrum methodology a Kanban methodology will be used to track bugs and performance issues.
