A phase-to-ground fault detection method based on VMD

The existing methods for detecting and identifying single-phase faults all exhibit certain limitations. This paper introduces a method for selecting faults in small current single-phase grounding systems utilizing the VMD algorithm. First, analysing transient zero-sequence current characteristics associated with the fault. Then, a VMD algorithm is proposed for precisely selecting the fault in systems. Finally, a fault model is built using simulation software and simulated experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness and high resistance to interference of the method.

Abstract

The existing methods for detecting and identifying single-phase faults all exhibit certain limitations. This paper introduces a method for selecting faults in small current single-phase grounding systems utilizing the VMD algorithm. First, analysing transient zero-sequence current characteristics associated with the fault. Then, a VMD algorithm is proposed for precisely selecting the fault in systems. Finally, a fault model is built using simulation software and simulated experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness and high resistance to interference of the method.
